Calcutta High Court allows Junior Doctors front in Bengal to hold protests over R.G. Kar issue: The West Bengal Joint Platform of Doctors alongwith an individual approached the Calcutta High Court seeking permission to hold protests after city court granted a bail to two accused arrested for tampering with the evidence in connection with rape and murder of the doctor, Hon'ble Justice Tirthankar Ghosh on 20th December, 2024 allowed the association to hold protests at Dorina Crossing in Esplanade from 20th to 26th December, 2024 with some observation, "to organize a sit-in- demonstration at a distance of 50 ft. away from the Dorina Crossing, Esplanade, Kolkata. The stage proposed to be constructed should not exceed 40 ft. in length and from the back side of the stage to the guard rail which will be encompassing the crowd or the followers of the organization, the same should not exceed in breadth 23 ft. The organization is further directed not to increase its members, followers or any assembly and restrict the same between 200 and 250 members/people at a time. A list of 10 representatives of the organizers be furnished to the police administration who would interact with each other and if there is a request from the police authorities to reduce the crowd at a particular point of time in the day when there may be excess congestion, both the parties would try to arrive at a consensus."
